Things to DIY Instead of Buy for Your Wedding

Things to DIY Instead of Buy for Your Wedding

When it comes to planning a wedding, there are a lot of unexpected costs that can pop up and no matter what your budget is, it’s always great to save money without sacrificing quality! Luckily there are many things you can DIY instead of buy for a wedding, which can not only help you save funds but can add a beautiful and personal touch to your big day.

Here are some easy DIY projects you can incorporate into your wedding day that are possible for crafters of varying experience and skill levels!

Welcome Gift

If you are planning a wedding where many guests are coming from out of town, you might want to plan welcome gifts to be left in hotel rooms or a small kit that guests can pick up at the ceremony when they arrive. There are services available where you can buy premade kits, but it’s easy to buy things in bulk like tissues, bandaids, mints, and bobby pins, and then place them in small bags that are easy to distribute.

Table Numbers

Table numbers can be as elaborate or as simple as you’d like them to be! You can buy old books and decorate the front with the numbers before placing the books standing up on the table. For a personalized touch, print out pictures of you and your partner at every age. The pictures of you at age 1 can be placed next to a frame with the number 1 on it, for example. There are many ways to make this a fun and creative touch!

Guest Book

Like with everything wedding-related, your guest book should be something personal you’ll cherish for years to come. You can simply purchase a nice large notebook with pens, or you can try some creative twists. For example, buy a set of Jenga blocks or two and have your guests each sign one of the blocks.

Photo Booth Props

While it’s always worth it to hire a photographer who knows what they’re doing, you have a little more leeway with a photo booth! You can set up polaroid cameras and let your guests be in control, or you can hire a professional photo booth company. Either way, you can DIY or thrift some fun props for your guests to use!

Wedding Favors

Wedding favors are a fun keepsake, but ultimately the elaborately engraved items you can buy to give you your guests might mean more to you than it does to them. You can include those if you’d like, but if you’re looking for an easy thing to DIY, wedding favors are a great option. Click here for some ideas!
