Three Spicy Margarita Recipes for You to Try This Summer

It’s no secret that margaritas are a delicious and refreshing drink – but have you ever added a bit of spice? If you’ve never tried spicy margaritas before, now is the time! Washington City Magazine called spicy margaritas the drink of the summer, and they are fairly easy to make yourself. Here are three recipes for spicy margaritas you can enjoy this summer!

Jalapeno Margarita

The Jalapeno Margarita is the classic spicy margarita that you’ll find at restaurants and bars and it only takes a few ingredients to make yourself!

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces of tequila
  • the juice of half a lime (freshly squeezed is best!)
  • agave nectar to taste
  • sliced jalapeno to taste
  • Kosher salt and lime wedge for rim

Mix the ingredients together and pour over ice in a cup with a salted rim and drink!

Spicy Mango Blended Margarita

For a fresh and fruity drink that perfectly blends sweet and spicy, try this spicy margarita with a mango base! This variety is frozen which means you’ll need a blender to combine all the ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 mango, cubed and frozen
  • 3 ounces of tequila
  • 1 cup of orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • Chili powder to taste
  • Lime juice
  • Ice
  • Limes for garnish
  • Kosher salt for rim

Add all ingredients except for salt and lime wedges together in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a margarita glass with a salted rim and drink!

Mandarin Jalapeno Margarita

This spicy margarita recipe is from The Other Side of the Tortilla – it’s a great blend of sweet and tangy and incorporates fresh mandarins.

Ingredients

  • 6–7 mandarin oranges, juiced (should yield about 3/4 to 1 cup of juice)
  • 1 small lime, juiced
  • 2.5 ounces Don Julio Tequila Reposado
  • 0.5 ounces Cointreau

To rim the glasses:

  • 1 lime wedge (to wet the glass rims)
  • 2 tablespoons Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon Miguelito (chamoy en polvo)

  1. Halve and juice 6-7 mandarin oranges, until they yield about 3/4 to 1 cup of juice.
  2. Halve and juice one lime.
  3. Add 2.5 ounces of tequila reposado and 0.5 ounces of Cointreau and stir well. Set aside.
  4. To rim the glasses, mix 2 tablespoons of Kosher salt and 1 teaspoon of Miguelito in a shallow dish.
  5. Cut the lime wedge and run along the rims of the glasses to wet them. Turn the glasses upside down one at a time and dip in the salt-Miguelito mixture until the rims are completely salted.
  6. Add ice to the glasses, pour margaritas over ice, and serve immediately.
