Top Summer Reading Picks for 2021

If you were the type of person who actually enjoyed your summer reading lists, this post is for you! Here are ten of the best books that will keep your attention all summer long:

Malibu Rising

Taylor Jenkins Reid

If you were one of the millions of people who read and loved Daisy Jones and the Six, Taylor Jenkins Reid’s newest novel, Malibu Rising, is one you should definitely check out. This story is set in glamorous 1980’s Malibu and follows the four Riva siblings as they throw a wild party that forces them to confront their idea of family and themselves.

People We Meet on Vacation

Emily Henry

If you’re a fan of rom-coms, check this one out. This story follows Poppy and Alex who, despite being polar opposites, have been best friends since they met in college. The duo had a tradition of taking a summer vacation together until a rift forms between them one summer in Croatia. Years later Poppy invites Alex along on one more vacation in an attempt to win him back and mend their friendship – and, maybe, something more can grow out of it.

A Special Place for Women

Laura Hankin

A Special Place for Women follows journalist Jillian Beckley who is looking for a big scoop – and the chance to infiltrate an elite and secretive women-only club in Manhattan might be the solution to her problems. Jillian gets an inside look at how these women live but is she in over her head? These women are far more powerful than she could have imagined, for better and for worse.

Cobble Hill

Cecily Von Ziegesar

If you’re a fan of Cecily Von Ziegesar’s Gossip Girl novels, you’ll love Cobble Hill. It could be considered a more mature alternative, following four families in an upscale Brooklyn neighborhood as they navigate relationships throughout the course of a year. It’s a quirky read that portrays the charm of Brooklyn as well as the challenging dynamic of family life.

One of Us Is Lying

Karen M. McManus

You’re never too old for literature that’s classed as “Young Adult Fiction”. A good story is a good story no matter how old you are! One of Us Is Lying came out a few years ago but it’s still on the New York Times bestseller list and if you haven’t read it, now is as good a time as any.

The story is Gossip Girl meets Pretty Little Liars meets The Breakfast Club. It follows four students who are suspected of murder after a fifth student, Simon, died during detention they were also in. Simon ran a gossip app and was planning on publishing exposes on each of the four, which makes them all suspects. It’s a thrilling and fun read!
